About the Mississippi
Innovation Index - www.innovationindex.ms
The
Mississippi Innovation Index establishes a process of annual performance measurement to focus attention and provide
feedback about how well the state, as a whole, is doing in key areas of innovation-related activity. Annual statewide data are used to calculate performance levels for eight broad Innovation Goals and 24 detailed indicators of activity in the technology life cycle. Graphs and data tables can be downloaded for use in presentations and analyses. Information about the computations, data sources and links to website databases are provided to retrieve data from prior years. The Innovation Research Database provides researchers a source for technology-based economic development trend data for US states.
An extensive consensus building process involving representatives from universities, community colleges, economic development organizations and the private sector led to identification of 24 indicators that could be used to measure progress. The Innovation Goals were set by the Board of the Mississippi Technology Alliance with input from their organizations and institutions. Together, the Innovation Goals and the Innovation Indicators provide a source of valuable information and strategic direction for Mississippi.
